Volunteer

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

Here at SonRise Church we want to help those in need, give opportunities for discipleship and create events in which the gifts and talents of believers can be used for the benefit of others. Our Food Bank is one of those areas that is always excited to find good volunteers who are not afraid to meet new people and show compassion as basic need is met. Our Security Teams can be another place to serve the Body of Christ.
As well as events and opportunities inside the church, we regularly serve in other community events and outreaches. We become involved in service projects with other churches and community agencies.

If you look at Livingston County as a whole- and it is a great place to live- you find SonRise family in lots of places and roles. We don't just talk about "it". We do "it". Sign up and help "it" get done! Be the hands and feet of Christ.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?

General volunteer opportunities are announced from the platform during services, and are often communicated by ministry leaders through announcement videos.  Before or after service, it is also possible to go to The HUB outside the main Sanctuary and ask a volunteer there "What is happening?" and "How can I get involved?"

How do I volunteer with kids?

Pastor Erin Davis is our Kids Genius! Well, she doesn't call herself that, but I will. She has tremendous and creative ideas and is constantly assembling teams of people to serve with kids ministries classes. Please be aware that for safety reasons, all volunteers with children DO have to have background checks run- and we will help with that.

How do I volunteer with music?

All music issues are run through Pastor Doug Maleitzke. He is one of the easiest people to find- as a large part of each service is blessed through his ministry. Feel free to approach and talk to him about any interest in serving through music. He will share the process and help you move forward in your interest!

How do I volunteer with students?

Pastor Brian Edgar has all sorts of EPIC Ministries activities to run. They meet on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm and also on some Sunday mornings for small discussion groups, classes and activities. If you are interested in helping with EPIC Youth, see Pastor Brian. Again, for safety reasons all volunteers must have a background check run.
