The Week of May 31st
The day has finally arrived! This Sunday, May 31st, will be the reopening of in-facility services for SonRise. This week we are making sure our building is cleaned and sanitized as per the CDC standards, and laying in store whatever equipment and supplies are needed for the safest reopen possible.
Be aware of the fact that we are asking all to help us with this process. We will request and advise proper social distancing in our facility. We will be limiting seating to provide for safety, so we will ask you to sit with those in your family. If you come by yourself, you are your family!
Should you wear a mask? Well, that IS the recommendation of the CDC and doctors. I know that everyone CANNOT wear a mask due to medical reasons having nothing to do with COVID-19, but for those who can, we certainly recommend it. The point is to be courteous to, and observant of the safety needs of, those who are part of our church family. This is a church service, not a protest! It is likely (we are looking to arrange the equipment now) that we may ask to do a quick touchless temperature scan to make sure no one has a fever. Please do not be offended if this occurs! Again, the point is that everyone can feel safe as we emerge from lockdown status.
We will have no Common Coffee for several weeks. We will dismiss in a certain fashion that we ask you to help us with, and we encourage no close contact in the foyer. Kids ministry (as social distancing is very difficult with children) will NOT take place, and the nursery will be closed UNLESS a nursing parent needs to use it for that purpose. We ask for children to be seated with their parents. Just as we have done in our drive in services we will not pass an offering plate, but instead encourage you to use the box, the safe drop or online giving. Communion WILL be offered this Sunday, but it will be prepared and distributed according to safety precautions, and if you are not comfortable to receive at this time, feel free to decline!
Will all this ever end? Sure it will. In fact, it will be our hope that we can return to a fairly normal status soon. Until then, we may have to make adjustments. Video services will still be offered here and on Facebook at the normal 10:30 am time for those who cannot, or feel it unwise to, attend. We may need to offer multiple services if demand for in-facility services exceeds seating capacity. Each week will be the result of observation. Please be patient with us as we make adjustments- our plan is to serve everyone as best we can!
Wednesday night services will be a little different than before. EPIC students will need to follow the instructions on the EPIC page or Pastor Brian's instructions as to Wednesday night meeting places and recommendations. Kids ministries will be provided by video for the month of June. I will be attempting to record and offer Wednesday night Bible studies online for those who cannot attend, but we will be meeting in the Sanctuary on June 3rd.
I wanted to put out some instructions for our Wednesday Adult Bible Study for May 27th at 7 pm. We will be doing this in a Go To Meeting format. If you have participated with us in one already, you CANNOT use your old invitation information- it will lead to a dead room. The new invite is as follows:
